Our Passion
We are Charity and Ted, the husband-and-wife team behind Basket Hound Bassets. For nearly five years, we have been dedicated to intentionally breeding basset hounds with love, care, and a deep understanding of their unique nature. Our passion goes beyond breeding—we are committed to ensuring that each of our puppies is nurtured, prepared, and placed in the perfect forever home.
We believe that animals are sentient beings, deserving of respect, compassion, and thoughtful care. That’s why we take great care in selecting our puppies’ future families, ensuring they align with our values of responsible and loving ownership. From before conception to the moment a puppy leaves our arms, we devote ourselves to raising well-adjusted, confident companions, ready to embrace the world and the special bond they will share with their new families.
At Basket Hound Bassets, our mission is not just to breed dogs—it’s to create lasting connections between our bassets and the people who will love them for a lifetime.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every puppy entrusted to us is a little soul full of potential, and it is our responsibility to prepare them for the many experiences life will bring. Our role goes beyond breeding—we nurture, guide, and love them so they grow into confident, well-adjusted companions, ready to face the world with joy and resilience.
Today, our home is filled with the love of nine wonderful bassets. Two have retired, while our current breeding program includes four devoted females and three promising young studs. Over the years, we have had five successful litters, each one a testament to our commitment, and we look forward to many more in the future.
As part of our dedication to responsible breeding, we are excited to begin microchipping all of our puppies, starting with our next litter this summer—an extra step to ensure their safety and well-being in their forever homes.

Copper and Hope are expecting puppies! Their litter is anticipated to arrive between May 14th and 19th, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
