Basket Hound Bassetts
Intentional Breeding
Because they make us laugh.
Because they bring us joy.
Because they remind us not to take life too darn seriously.
Basset Hounds are pure comedy on four (short) legs. They have no idea that their little legs might slow them down—because they don’t! Whether it's climbing a couch, sneaking snacks off the counter (yes, including butter!), or just flopping around with big dreams and bigger ears, Bassets inspire us every day with their determination, humor, and heart.
They don’t believe in limits.
And neither do we.
Each Dog is a Blessing
Every one of our Bassets is a unique soul—with their own personality, likes and dislikes, quirks, curiosities, and challenges to conquer. Watching them grow, explore, and mature into the beautiful dogs they were meant to be is one of our greatest joys.
We feel truly blessed to share our lives with these amazing animals—and even more blessed that they share theirs with us.
Raising the Whole Dog
We don’t just breed dogs—we raise, train, exercise, and mentally stimulate them to become happy, healthy, well-rounded companions. Our goal? To give them the best possible start in life, so they can thrive in yours.
In return, we’re lucky enough to receive the one thing Basset Hounds give in abundance:
Unconditional love and loyalty.
What Sets Us Apart?
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
We start ENS on day 2 of each puppy’s life—a gentle, science-based approach that supports brain development, cardiovascular health, and immune strength during the critical 2–16 day window.
Benefits may include:
-
Better stress tolerance
-
Healthier heart rates
-
Stronger adrenal glands
-
Increased resistance to illness
Love Begins at Home
Our puppies are born in our living room, where they are under our loving care 24/7. We sleep beside the whelping box for the first two weeks, ensuring every pup is warm, fed, and clean. If necessary, we bottle-feed larger litters and clean the whelping area multiple times a day.
Welcome to the Whelp House
Once their eyes open and their legs get moving, our pups head out to the Whelp House—a safe, sanitized, stimulating environment designed to prepare them for life.
We begin:
-
Litter box training
-
Grooming desensitization (nail trims, ear cleaning every 3 days, baths)
-
Sound exposure (thunderstorms, fireworks, vacuums, kids playing, barking dogs & more)
-
Physical development activities (mobiles for neck strength at 3 weeks, saucer swings at 4.5 weeks for core confidence)
All this while Mom always has full access to her babies.
A Promise to Every Puppy
We believe we have a responsibility to prepare every puppy for all the life experiences they may encounter. Our mission is to love, nurture, and build confidence in each pup—so they can face the world with tail-wagging courage.
Responsible Breeding Matters
We're extremely selective in choosing dogs for our breeding program. Every female must:
-
Have genetic testing
-
Undergo a full physical exam
-
Wait until after her third heat cycle before breeding
We raise all our dogs inside our home, where they are part of our family—not just breeding dogs, but beloved companions.
From Our Pack to Yours
We’re not just raising puppies. We’re raising family members.
And it’s an honor to share that journey with you.
